Self Bondage Techniques and Tips (How To Beginner’s Guide)

Self Bondage Techniques and Tips (How To Beginner’s Guide)

Self bondage is a thrilling practice where you tie yourself up for sexual gratification. While it can be highly pleasurable, it can also be hazardous if it isn’t done correctly. Therefore, self bondage requires a lot of practice and preparation to make sure things go smoothly.

To practice self-bondage safely, pick the technique you want, consider everything that could go wrong, and prepare beforehand. Besides binding yourself with rope, you can also restrain yourself with handcuffs and chains. Also, as a beginner, ensure there’s a weak point in your bondage so you can still escape.

In this self bondage guide, I’ll walk you through several tips and tricks to help you safely bind yourself so you can live out all of your bondage fantasies even when you’re all by yourself!

How To Perform Self Bondage

Below, I’ve listed three steps you should follow to ensure that your self bondage session will be a success!

Self Bondage Techniques And Tips How To Beginners Guide

Come Up With a Plan and Practice

Before you begin your self bondage session, develop a concrete plan about what you intend to do:

  1. Determine what technique you want to use. Consider the materials you want to incorporate into your session and which body parts you plan to restrict.
  2. You need to do some research. Learn self bondage methods that teach you how to bind yourself with your selected materials. If you’re a beginner, you may want to start with easier self bondage techniques that don’t require you to tie yourself up.
  3. You need to acquire your materials and practice your technique. You want to make sure that the method is safe and that you can escape if there is an emergency.

Think About Problems That May Arise

Now that you’ve come up with your plan, you need to consider everything that could go wrong during your self-bondage session. This will help you prepare for the unexpected.

For example, what would you do if there was a fire, flood, or someone arrived home unexpectedly? Try to plan ahead and consider what you would do in each situation. That way, if any of these unfortunate scenarios occur, you’ll know just what to do.

Get Ready for Your Session

In this final step, you’ll begin by setting out your materials and double-checking that everything is in order.

  1. Make sure you have all of the tools necessary to escape if there is an emergency and that you’ve told a friend to check on you once your session is over (more about this below)!
  2. Check your house to ensure that everything will be ok while you are bound for the next hour or so. For example, you need to make sure you have locked the doors, walked your dog, and turned off the stove before your session can commence.
  3. Check in with yourself. Make sure you go to the bathroom right before your session and that you are mentally prepared for what you are about to do.

Once you’ve completed these steps, you’re ready to perform self bondage!

Self Bondage Techniques

Listed below are six of the most common techniques used during self bondage. Some are more dangerous than others, so make sure you don’t use techniques that are too advanced.

Bind Yourself With Rope

Bondage rope is a commonly used self-bondage material since it is so versatile. You can use it to bind your wrists, ankles, chest or create a harness for your entire body. You can also use it to tie yourself to inanimate objects, such as your bed or bedpost.

While rope can be an excellent bondage material, it is very dangerous when misused. Therefore, you shouldn’t use rope without extensive practice beforehand. Additionally, never use rope around your head or neck, as this can lead to strangulation.

For a safer alternative, try this:

  • Tie one end of the rope to your bed frame.
  • Wrap the other end around your wrists, legs, or chest while leaving a few inches of the rope loose.
  • Tuck the loose end underneath the wrapped portion without tying it.

This way, you can simulate what it would feel like to be restrained without actually tying yourself up.

Use Ice Locks or Timed Locks

Locks are often used in combination with other materials to make things more secure. If you choose to use a lock, you need to make sure you can safely get out within a reasonable amount of time.

One method is to use an ice lock, a small device that you fill with water and freeze. It’ll keep you locked in place until the ice melts, freeing you from your bondage. Before you use an ice lock, make sure you test it ahead of time to see how long it’ll take to melt!

Another locking technique you can try is a timed lock. These are electronic locks that open automatically when the timer runs out. You can set the timer anywhere from a couple of minutes to several hours, depending on your preferences.

I recommend selecting a timed lock with an emergency unlock function, just in case you need to escape before the timer runs out.

Restrain Your Wrists With Handcuffs

Handcuffs are sexy, fun, and easy to use, making them the perfect tool for beginners and advanced players alike.

Make sure you get handcuffs that are an appropriate size for your wrists.

When you put them on, squeeze them until you can’t escape. However, don’t squeeze them so tightly that they can cut off blood flow to your wrists.

Always keep the handcuff key nearby. If you want to prevent yourself from escaping for a certain amount of time, try putting the key into a timed lockbox. This way, you won’t be able to remove your cuffs until the timer is up!

Try Tape for Painful Pleasure

If you’re into pain play, then tape should be your go-to self bondage material. It is durable, difficult to escape from, and pulls at the skin when you take it off, which can be pretty painful.

I don’t recommend taping your entire body right away, as it may be more painful than you can bear. Start by binding on areas, such as your ankles. If you can handle the pain, you can experiment with taping other parts of your body during your next session.

Experiment With Plastic Wrap

While you may think of plastic wrap as just something you use to wrap up your leftovers, think again. This thin plastic material is a great way to restrain yourself during self bondage play!

While plastic wrap may seem flimsy, if you use enough layers, it’s very challenging to get out of. Try wrapping it around your legs, arms, and chest for some excellent resistance.

One unique thing about plastic wrap is that it makes you sweat, adding to the intensity of your self-bondage session. Therefore, you need to drink a decent amount of water before playtime to avoid dehydration. However, don’t drink too much, or else you’ll need to pee while you’re bound!

Additionally, you need to be careful not to wrap the plastic too tightly, as it can constrict your breathing. Also, you should never use it on or near your face since it can easily cause suffocation.

Play Around With Chains

Chains are a sexy, heavy-duty material with a good amount of weight to them. They produce a sharp sound when they clank together, which is highly arousing.

While they aren’t as versatile as ropes, you can still use them to restrain your wrists, ankles, chest or to adhere yourself to objects in your home. Avoid using them on your bare skin since they can produce a pretty painful pinch!

To make your chains even more secure, try fastening them with an ice lock or timed lock. If you do this, make sure you don’t wrap them around your body too tightly since this may cut off your blood flow.

While chains are a super sexy bondage material, they are also really challenging to escape from. If you get stuck, you’ll need bolt cutters or potentially the fire department to set you free (awkward)! Therefore, you should only use chains if you are very experienced with self-bondage and know what you’re doing.

Self Bondage Tips for Safety

Restraining yourself is inherently dangerous, especially if you do something wrong and can’t get free! Therefore, you should follow these tips to help make your sessions as safe as possible.

Always Have Someone on Call

While you may feel like it’s too embarrassing to tell anyone that you do self-bondage, it’s better to be embarrassed than to wind up seriously injured (or worse) because you didn’t inform anyone of your activities.

Therefore, before each self-bondage session, you should tell one or two of your friends about what you are doing (or at least tell them that you are doing a risky activity if you are too embarrassed to disclose the details).

Then, tell them to call you at a specific time to make sure you’re alright. If you don’t answer, let them know that they should come check on you ASAP. Make sure you only ask reliable friends who will actually come to your rescue!

Keep Escape Materials Nearby

If you are playing with rope, plastic wrap, or tape, it’s essential to keep a pair of medical-grade safety scissors nearby. This way, you can cut yourself free if you accidentally bind yourself too tightly.

Additionally, it would be best to keep a couple of backup keys in the room whenever you are playing with locks or handcuffs. To make the keys less accessible, you can put them in a can of paint or jar of honey. This will dissuade you from using them unless you really need them!

If you plan to bind yourself with chains, you’ll need a pair of bolt cutters in case things go awry.

Put a Weak Point in Your Bondage Materials

If you are binding yourself with heavy-duty materials, such as ropes or chains, it’s always a good idea to put a weak point in the bond to make them easier to escape from.

Some popular options include zip ties, fishing line, or thin pieces of rope. Use one of these items to link your chains or ropes together. Now, if you need to escape all you’ll have to do is cut or break the weak link and you’ll be as free as a bird!

Final Thoughts

Self-bondage involves voluntarily restraining yourself for sexual pleasure. While it can be highly gratifying when done correctly, it can also be perilous if you don’t know what you’re doing! Therefore, it requires a lot of practice, planning, and research to execute it safely.

Some bondage techniques, such as binding with ropes and chains, are more dangerous than others, like using handcuffs or plastic wrap. Therefore, you need to consider your experience level and select a method that is suitable for you.
